I was told that the LaCaze spelling is French and the LaCas spelling is Italian. My husband and I spell our name LaCaze... although I noticed on his birth certificate when we were applying for our marriage license that his name is actually La Caze with a space. I've done a bit of genealogy research and can't trace the family back to France or Italy yet who knows! Good luck in your search!
