I have found a little more information on John Lackner but still need to connect him with siblings and other family. According to the marriage license his father's name was John Lackner and his mother was Sarah Vasbinder. I have no other info on them. The docment also says Toras county Pennsylvania as a birthplace but I can find no such county. I believe John was born in or near Volant Pennsylvania in Lawrence County Feb 22, 1867.
I am pretty certain I have found him in 1870 Census records with the family of Andrew Becktol also spelled Becktel in later Census records.
The family story is that he came from a family of nine children who were farmed out to various families after their father was killed in a railroad accident. No mention is made of their mother and according to his grandson (Claude)John did not know he was a Lackner until he married Grace Stiff in 1888.
There has been no known contact with the original family members and no other information is available at this time.
Claude did not know anything about the Becktel family that took John in except for the name and there has been no known contact with them either.
Any help or info is appreciated.
