Hello Dee: My great-great-grand father was Gilbert Lacombe, brother of Régis Lacombe who married Délima-Edith St-Jarre dit Sergerie. The National Archives in Boston has customs office records for the Fort Kent Maine office where Alcide Lacombe and his wives registered to emigrate into Maine. The box "RACE" is filled in as "American Indian" for Alcide Lacombe and "Indian by marriage for his wives". Furthermore, I have spoken with one of Régis Lacombe's grand daughters who knew him personally. She says they hold their Indian blood from Délima-Edith St-Jarre dit Sergerie who was the daughter of Jean St-Jarre dit Sergerie and Marie-Milburge Perrault. She says Marie-Milburge was abducted by an Indian and held in the woods for 3 years. By the time the authorities caught up with them in the Restigouche area she had 3 children by him and refused to leave them behind. Délima-Edith St-Jarre dit Sergerie is one of those children. I do not know what became of the Indian who was enamored with her.
