I found Pierre Balan dit Lacombe properties near Brantome in the Dordogne region of France on google earth and on the 1750 Carte Cassini. The location of Les Balans and Les Combes is close to Brantome but Pierre's mother's maiden name Courier appears closer to Cantillac and is known as Les Courieres, 24310 on google earth. The Balan family has a chateau (Chateau des Balans) and I did some research and found out that one of the Balan descendents with the name Jeanne Marie LaFon (Lafond) married Paul Durand-Ruel a famous French art dealer. I found this genealogy information on this Balan descendent in GeneaNet.
