Hi Jeremiah LaCour,
You need to find out what part of the country your grandfather was from, and work back. There is a book called "Some Early Families of the Avoyelles Parish Louisiana",
(you can get info at your library) lists the first LaCour as Nicholas, from Normandy, France. He arrived in the US in 1720 on a ship called the Loire. The book gives an excellent account of the LaCour line until around 1850. If you are connected with Louisiana, try this as a resource. Good Luck.
