You're not the only family of LaCours in Newfoundland. You'll find a number of families around the Conception Bay area, particularlly in the Harbour Main area.

The name LaCour is synonumus with carpentry in that town. If you ever have the chance to visit the St. Peter and Paul church in Harbour Main you'll see why. :)

I was a LaCour before I got married, my family is from that area, they relocated to Labrador in the early 60's and there are still family members there as well.

I have been doing research for the last little while on the family. It's seems the first generation of Lacours, came over St Lawrence, Jersey, Channel Islands around the date of 1645.
