Alexander LaCour -NYC-1850

I am searching for information on my
great-great grandfather Alexander LaCour.
Born July 1827 (?)
He came to NYC in 1850 from France.
He lived at various locations in Manhattan.
He disappears from the City Directories
between 1900-1903. Can find no Death
Certificate. Last known address was
44 W. 8th Street in what is now the Village.
Wife (possibly second) is Henriette LaCour,
a mid-wife or nurse. Alex was a house
cutter. Does anyone know what that means? I am a novice at this but trying to
learn. Alex had one son Charles Francois
LaCour born in Oct. 1857 in NYC. Mother
listed as Fannie Meuchen.
Thanks for your time & consideration.
