Thanks, D.E. Looks like you've done a great deal of work on this project and I appreciate it much. Sorry not to have responded sooner. My grnd mother, Laura Minerva Baker was one of the younger issue of Noah Baker and Mildred Garrett though I can't find her in the census. Laura married Wm. Henry Lacy of Elizabeth City, NC and they produced four sons and two daughters. My father was the fifth born.
I believe that Laura M. was put out to a relative or some one else to raise as was the common practice in those days when times were difficult and money in short supply and that may account for her not showing in the Baker census. She may have shown up in another family's census.
My particular side of the Lacys are born in Pasquatank County, NC where most of us have resided all of our lives-except myself. I returned in 1995 after living in Pa., NJ, TX and other places. We need to get together and go over some old stuff.
