Albert Lacy, TX, OK, late 1800s
I've recently received information that makes me believe that I am descended from the Thomas Lacy family of VA. One of the descendants, Robert J, moved to Crossroads, TX (Rusk Cty), and one of his wives was Caroline Nichols. A son of Robert J and Caroline was Albert Allen, whom I believe may have been my GGGrandfather. Albert and my GGGrandmother, Julia Henrietta (Smith) Lacy, moved from TX to Oklahoma to homestead. I believe that Julia was from LA originally. They are buried in Maud, OK. Their son, Willie (my GGrandfather), was the only child they had when they moved. The other children I know are: Oliver (who lived in Sulphur, OK), Charlie, Robert Loranze, Ada (who lived in OKC and Shawnee, and married a Stephens (Stevens?)), Ethel (who married Everett Corbin, lived in Shawnee, Ok, and is buried in Tecumseh), and Novie (who lived in OKC). Willie married SallyBass, daughter of James Martin and Maggie. Willie and Sally both died in 1909, leaving my Grandmother, age 3, and her 2 younger brothers behind. I believe they spent a great deal of their young liveswith theirUncle Jim (James Richard) Bass, and his wife, Docie, in Hallett, OK - also, their cousins, Belfa and Faye, who were also orphaned.I am researching the Bass Cherokee connection - several of the children filed on the Guion Miller roll.I would love to find some Lacy cousins to work with on this!
Thanks for any response!!!
