Jane
I have no information on my Napoleon Lado (Ladoux) family before his arrival in Texas with the House family in late 1830's or early 1840. Napoleon (Lado) Spelling on marriage license in 1840 married Sarah House in 1840. I have a copy of the marriage license which I got at the court house in Harris Co.,Tx. He is also listed on the 1840 Census for Harris Co.,Tx.. I beleive his wife Sarah died shortly after child birth, because I can find no records of her after the birth of Harry. Napoleon remarried shortly after the birth of Harry. His son Harry (short for Harrison) married Argent Missouri SMITH. Their daughter Minnie LADO, married Carl STEPHERSON, s/o John STEPHERSON and Sarah GREER. They were my grandparents. It is not easy finding information with so many different spelling of the SIR NAMES. My uncle told me John changed the spelling of his name because there was another John STEPHENSON in Huntsville, Tx., and their mail was always getting mixed up by the Postal service.
Wish I could be of more help.
Helen in Texas
