I haven't found proof of this, but our Laferriere name was changed to LaFaire, supposedly in Louisiana.
My side of the family begins with Louis Laferriere, who married Emilie Tremont. They were both from Alsace-Lorraine, and immigrated to Quebec and Wisconsin. Known children are Alexander, Mary, Emma, Francis Xavier and Anella? There were about 12 kids total. Any connections?
