Betty,
How do you explain the Will of David Robinson:
REYNOLD LEFORCE, late husband of the testator's sister,
AGNES LEFORCE, dec'd and all his children not named in this Will, are excluded from inheriting or possessing any part of the estate, real or personal
if he were married only to Anne Robinson and had no other children.Note his name is Reynold.
In Rene's Deed of Gift to children: Gillespie, George and Judith he is listed as Randall Leforce not Randolph
and he signed it Rene.Randall is a corruption of Renyold.
The land mentioned in this Deed of Gift is the same land
in land records acquired by Rene La Force and the same as that on tax records in Polly La Force's name. Did both of them acquire land from Charles Morgan and leave it to Polly Gillespie La Force.
Also, on the Petition of William Bailey La Force for the attempt to reclaim the slaves or obtain compensation for the La Force family, the lawyer calls Rene La Force
Randal La Force. We know by documentation that this was Renald Rene, Jr's widow Agnes Mosbey La Force.
King La Force Mahan was also listed on Return of Captives as Ranald Mahan. In later deeds, Wills and Census records he is Renald Rene Mahan.
People can't even spell La Force correctly, so how would they spell an odd French name Renald which is pronounced Reynold.
The Robert you mentioned from the Clark Co records is Robert William La Force son of Jane Watson La Force and son of Robert William La Force (Jr). per Admin. of the Estate of Robert William La ForceThere was also another Rane La Force and a Nancy La Force who were siblings to this Robert. They all moved to Boone Co, MO.
Judith, George and Gillespie were living in Morgan Co., IL after they left Ky.Samuel did live there for a short time. George moved over to Lawrence Co, IN.
The Census record of 1830 Bourbon Co, Ky lists Gaston, Isabella and Trephenah together.Gaston does not appear on any further Census Records. Both girls married shortly after in Bourbon Co.
I have documentation that several of Samuel La Force's sons
went to IL when it first opened as a territory; it is just too long to include. Rane and Samuel were in Brekinridge Co, KY ca 1815. Samuel moved to IN before the 1820 Census
John was on a Census in IL.Both sons of the above Rane --James Logan and Samuel Benton La Force lived in Morgan Co, Il for a time, so why do you think it was impossible for
Robert M. La Force to have been a cousin to them ?
I have been a La Force for a long time, grew up among La Force cousins, and have researched the family for many years now, and I do know one thing--if one La Force moves to a new area, you soon will have more of the family there!
Respectfully,
Louise
