Well, if I had been a little more patient and read my e-mail sooner, I would have already known the answers to my questions.
For those of you in the dark as much as I was, here is what I found out.
This is the content of the e-mail I received from Daniel Whetzel's descendant."
"Samuel's father, William Lefuse(spelling per the N.J. Marriage books) died shortly after joining the Revolution. His mother Elizabeth Johnson later married Daniel Whetsel/Wetzelwho raised Samuel. There is a possibility that William Lefuse most likelydied before Samuel was born.
Believe Daniel was the son of John Wetzel and Johanna Jane Jarrett of Macungie Twp., Northampton later Lehigh Co., PA., but, don't have my final piece of the puzzle to be 100% certain.Have also traced a Daniel Wetsel serving in the 12th VA Regiment of the Continental Army whichrecruited at Ft. Pitt.My research seems to point that I am 99.99% sure that this is my Dan.
We have never found where Daniel and Elizabeth were married, but, know that it was not in N.J. Still looking. They spent a short time living in N.J. and settled in Fayette Co., PA. in the late 1700s. My 3 x g,grandfather
George Whetsel was their last child who was born in 1800.
I am the 4 x g,granddaughter of Daniel Wetsel/Wetzel and
Elizabeth(Johnson)Lefuse. It seems that Samuel is the one to change the spelling to LaFuze.I have the name of another LaFuze descendant who lives south of me in Illinois.I don't know if her Email address is still the
same.
Dan, Sr's son, Dan, Jr. Sam LaFluze, and another Whetsel brother first went to Ohio and later settled in Union Co., IN."
Hope this information helps everyone else as much as it has helped me.
