I have a photo of John LaGrange's gravemarker b 8.28/1733 d 9/18/1798 Vestal, buried at Riverside Cemetery Edicott (old name Union) NY. I have his children (1M 5F) and he was a descendant of the original settler, from Normandy Fr, Omie, who had a large land patent in Albany NY (half of what is now Albany).John was very helpful to George Washington's cause, while living in Elizabeth Town NJ, and spy meetings were held in his home from 1777-8 concerning Staten Island, where Genearla Howe had 6000 British soldiers, and base operations from 1776-1783. John LaGrange purchased land from Joshua Mersereau b 1728,and had a farm in Vestal, after the revolution, as John LaGrange married Joshua's sister Elizabeth Mercereau. The land was part of what is known as the Phillip's Estate.
Joshua was Deputy Commissary General 1777 to 1783 and was in charge of General Burgoyne's Army who were prisioners, from Oct 1777 after the battle of Saratoga.
