From the Chatsworth Plaindealer

MARCH 5, 1897
On Monday, March 1, at three o'clock in the afternoon, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. James Lahey, of Charlotte township, occurred the death of their youngest son, Martin, after one week's illness. On the Monday prior to his death the young man was taken sick with measles, which was followed with pneumonia.
Martin Lahey was born in the house where his death occurred, nineteen years ago last September. he was a young man of admirable character, with a large circle of friends and very few, if any, enemies. His dispostiion was happy, quiet and friendly, and his habits above reproach. His death, taking him as it has, in the prime of young manhood is the more lamentable, for the future seemed to have much in store for him. He leaves to mourn his early death besides his unlimited circle of friends, the bereaved parents, three brothers and four sisters.
The funeral services were held from the SS. Peter and Paul's church on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Father J.J. Quinn officiating. The funeral cortege was very long as it followed the remains to St. Patrick's cemetery, where they were laid to their final rest.
