The oldest records I found in Ireland (A Church baptismal book for Slieveroe Parish, County Kilkenny early 1700s) gave the spelling as LAHY, Also, I found a thirteenth document with same spelling I also found a 1860 US Census, spelled Lehay. Take your pick. Fr Lahey
