Seeking information about the family of (Capt.) James LAHEY, born May 1845 Ireland, died 30 Jan 1890 while in East Point, GA (although a resident of Montgomery, AL). His obituary states that he came to the US at age 13 [ca 1858] and settled in Nashville where his bro-in-law was in the mercantile business. He joined the CSA at age 17 and rose to the rank of Captain in his artillery company. Immediately after the war, he opened a clothing store in Montgomery, AL. He married Lucy WINTER in Montgomery on 5 June 1872, and they had nine children:

George Borgfeldt LAHEY (b&d 1873)

Elizabeth LAHEY (ca 1874)
m. 1902 Edward G. LOWRY

James Kilroy LAHEY (1875-1876)

Josephine Winter LAHEY (ca 1878)
m. Wm. Preston SCREWS

Alice Borgfeldt LAHEY (1881-1960)
m. James Henry FOSTER

Kathleen Kilroy LAHEY (1882-1968)
m. Edwin Boyce JOSEPH

Lucille Winter LAHEY (1883-1958)
m. Joseph William HOLT

Jean Kilroy LAHEY (ca 1886)
m. Maxwell MOODY

Ruth Carmen LAHEY (b&d 1889)

The 1860 census of Davidson Co., TN (Nashville) includes this family:

George BORGFELDT 26 Ger. merchant clerk
Alice BORGFELDT 22 Ger.
J. LAHEY (male) 21 Ire. merchant clerk
James LAHEY 16 Ire.

These are apparently three LAHEY siblings and Alice's husband George BORGFELDT.

Living on the same street in Montgomery as the James LAHEY family, almost next door, was the family of William David LAHEY (Feb 1845--Jan 1900). His obit states that he came to Montgomery around 1866 and resided here thereafter. His wife was Novella DAVIDSON (1847-1916), and their only known child was Margaret Lucretia LAHEY (b. 1878, d. 1936 Montgomery, AL). [As Lucretia was her maternal grandmother's name, one wonders if Margaret may have been her paternal grandmother's name.]

William David LAHEY's burial record at Oakwood Cem. in Montgomery says he was born in NY.

Margaret Lucretia LAHEY's will mentions only relatives on her mother's side (the DAVIDSON family), but a petition by her niece and nephew to execute her will includes the name of an uncle, James W. LAHEY, of E. Northfield, Mass. (in 1936 or 1937).

Any information about these LAHEY's will be gratefully received.
