Martie,

Thank you for the quick reply!! You are the first reply I have ever had! I cannot find any connections with all the Joseph Laing's you listed from Plainsfield, NJ newspaper. Somehow I need to figure out the lines of NJ Laing's and how my ancestors fit. Somehow we probably go back to John Laing of Scotland. I haven't found where my Laings lived in NJ yet. But you are right about the surnames were commonly used as the first names by the Quakers.

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NEW EMAIL ADDRESS OF KRISTINE CHAMPLIN? I THINK WE ARE RELATED!! She posted a request here on 3 April 1999 that matches my research for the children of Joseph LAING and Anna SMITH, their daughter Hannah and son Abraham LAING, my gr gr grandfather. Their other children were Smith (mother's surname), Webster and Phebe.
