Hi Julie

Saturday again and I was just looking through some sites and came across your question about Alexander Laing Martin.

I'm researching the Laing branch of my tree but we're not connected however ... I think I may have found 'your' Alexander's death on the ScotlandsPeople pages:

I searched first for Martin, Alexander Laing with date options 1905-2006 and his birth year +/= 1 year for the whole of Scotland and it returned 1 match.

I then began to narrow things down first for the exact year then worked the start date up in 10 year increments until the match disappeared then re-searched in 1 year increments until I got 1988.

Then it was a matter of entering a county and you had mentioned Aberdeen so I started with that and he was still there - Aberdeenshire.

A search district by district took only one search to Aberdeen - the Granite City - itself.

I don't think you'll be able to get the register page online from ScotlandPeople but you can contact them and ask for a copy. Give it a try first though ... you may be lucky.

Any problems, please get back to me.

Regards

Chiad Fhear
