There are three stone arch bridges in Dixon IL on the south side of the Rock River in Lee County, Illinois. These bridges were designed by Robert Finley LAING and constructed circa 1851 to 1854 according to info at WIKI and BridgeHunter.com

I came across those links while searching for the (unrelated) Truesdale Bridge Collapse in Dixon, Lee, Illinois, USA circa 4 May 1873.

I"m curious about the family of Robert Finley LAING - to see if he's related to the Rev Robert FInley of Basking Ridge NJ and other places.

There was a John Finley / Findley that explored Kentucky and was friends with Daniel Boone and the "long hunters". That John Finley may have provided the spark for Daniel Boone to explore Kentucky circa 1770 to 1780. I'm curious if there is a link between those FINLEY folks and this Robert Finley LAING and Charles Finley LAING.
