***was born 22 May 1757 in Salisbury, Litchfield, Connecticut.

***He died of Tuberculosis or Consumption on 9 Apr 1811 in Tobinsport, Perry, Indiana.

***He served in the Revolution in Col. Phillip Courland's 2nd. N.Y. Regiment. He served from May 5, 1778 to February 5, 1779

***He was one of the founders of the Baptist Church in Pittstown .

***About 1794 he went to Pompey, Onondago, New York and served in the New York Assembly in 1802.

***The Lambs moved from N Y to Tobinsport (Polks Bottom, then Knox Co.) in 1808. . Later in the same year he reenlisted and served three years in Capt. Cornelius Wiltse's Company of the Fourteenth Regiment of the Albany County, NewYork militia, commanded by Col. Peter Yates.

***He married Beulah Curtis March 21, 1779. She was born April 26, 1760 and died July 19, 1851

The First of John Lambís ancestors in America.

In the Indiana Territory John Lamb bought 508 acres of land in Tobin Township near Rome in Perry County.

John Lamb was the son of Isaac Lamb and his second wife Elizabeth Dillie (Dillis, Deleys).

John Lamb was a descendant of the Thomas Lamb who was in Gov. John Winthrop's party. They came to America in 1630 from England and founded Boston. From there the family migrated to Connecticut, thence to New York where John served in the American Revolution. It is recorded that they came down the Ohio River by boat. In 1809 he made the hazardous trip to Vincennes to buy land near Rome and Polk's Bottom. He died of consumption April 9, 1811. He is buried in the Lamb Cemetery, Tobinsport, Ind. (Polk's Bottom).

The local chapter of the American Legion was established in 1926 when some Lepanto veterans of World War I met and organized the first American Legion Post at Lepanto.

It was named the Willie Lamb Post No. 26 for the first Lepanto veteran to die in the service in that war.

"The official dedication of the building took place on March 31, 1938.

The dedication speeches covered topics from Americanism to ongoing German military actions in Europe.

Among the more than 300 people who attended the dedication was Mrs. Katie Lamb, the Gold Star Mother of the post. The post was named after her son Willie, who had died fighting during World War I."

Raymond Elliott Lamb, 53, of Lepanto died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003 at his residence.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lepanto.
Survivors include two sons, Shane Lamb of Monette and Henry Lamb of California; a daughter, Shanda Lamb of Lake City; two brothers, Bruce Lamb and Greg Lamb, both of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Selma Lamb.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 in Sandy Ridge Cemetery at Burdette, with John Bining officiating. Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola had charge of arrangements.
