David-
OK, I've now done extensive research about the James A and Perlina (Lamb) Clinton family, as well as a tiny bit about your great grandmother Sarah Clinton. What I can tell you is that these are not her parents.

The daughter of James and Perlina was born 1 Jun 1857. This was written up in the "Pioneer History of Coos and Curry County, Oregon" by Orvil Dodge published in 1898. This is consistent with her birthdate post marriage where she listed on the 1900 census as Jun 1857. Also, the daughter of Thomas Johnson and Sarah Clinton gets married, confirming both her parents' names on her marriage certificate.

I did find a record of a Sarah Clinton who married Edward 'Bowels' on 26 Jul 1879, Van Buren, Arkansas. Would these be your great grandparents?
