Perhaps you can answer a question for me, since you seem to be very knowledgeable about the Lamberson family. You listed a wife of Lawrence Lamberson as Christina Fite, correct? And I think in another message I saw that they were married about 1777, is that correct?
How is it then that in 1793, in Sussex Co., N.J., there is a Lawrence Lambertson recorded in the Will of Thomas Vanatta (or Venatta) as the husband of his daughter, "Bridged", i.e., Bridget Vanatta? I'm curious about this since my ancestor, Peter Vanatta is found living in Smith County, TN., in 1820 (and he died there in 1826) and it appears that this same Lawrence Lamberson /Lambertson also was recorded on the same 1820 census of Smith Co., TN.
This is a copy of the Abstract of Thomas "Venatta"'s Will as it was found on the Sussex Co., N.J., website:
"VANETTA, Thomas of Oxford. 578S - Filed 3 Jan 1793. Wife: Aeltie. Son: Benjamin. Daughters: Hannah w/o John
DOUGIN, Bridged w/o Lawrence LAMBERTSON, Lidia w/o Benjamin DECKER and Anne. Executors: Wife, Aeltie
VANETTA, son, Benjamin VANETTA and Lawrence LAMBERTSON. Witnesses: Abraham DEPUE and Isaac DEWITT, Jr."

I have also seen some messages posted here on this message board about Lawrence Lamberson's wife's name recorded in Lamberson Will records in the mid 1780's as a misspelled version of Briget as well. Something like Brachia or something similar to that. So it appears that Lawrence was married to Bridget Vanatta, daughter of Thomas Vanatta, sometime prior to the mid 1780's. Since Thomas Vanatta's Sussex County, N.J., Will of 1793 proves that Lawrence Lamberson's wife was his daughter Bridget, how is it that everyone has Lawrence Lamberson's wife's name listed as Christina Fite? I'm genuinely curious about this. Were there TWO men named Lawrence Lamberson (of this time frame) who may have been confused here? Or was there only one and he was married more than once? Can you help explain this to me? Thanks/Kelly
