I have absolutely no doubt that you know far more about the Lamberson family than I do. I have only recently discovered this apparent link between the two families. And I would have to agree that Christina Fite was the wife of Lawrence Lamberson of Smith Co., TN. No doubt about that either.

What I'm curious about is how Lawrence could have been married to Christina in the 1770's (saw an outline listing marriage date as 1777. Is that fairly accurate?), and yet also be married to Bridget Vanatta in 1793, and then again be married to Christina after that in Smith Co., TN., and Bedford Co., PA. Seems to me that there may have been more than one Lawrence Lamberson during this time period. Just speculation on my part tho.

I'm also curious about the fact that you mention that Lawrence left N.J. in 1789, yet, Bridget is mentioned as Lawrence Lambertson's wife, in Thomas' Sussex County, New Jersey Will of 1793. Could there have been two Lawrence Lamberson's during this time frame? Can't help but wonder about that.

I also have to wonder if there are any land records in Sussex Co., N.J., which identify Lawrence Lamberson's wife's name during the late 1780's to 1790's.

I find it very interesting that the Fite's were also residents of Lincoln Co., N.C., as Peter Vanatta is known to have purchased land there in 1786, and was recorded on the 1790 census of same as "Peter Venatey", as well as the 1800 census of same as Peter Vanatta.

Peter Vanatta appears to have had a son named John who was born in Tennesse in 1804/05 (not proven yet). So, your Leonard and John Fite and my Peter Vanatta appear to have gone to Smith Co., TN., at approximately the same time. If the Fite's were among the first settlers in Smith County, TN., and Peter went at the same time, then he too would have to be considered one of the first settlers of that area as well. At the very least it certainly suggests that my Peter Vanatta was very well acquainted with your Lawrence Lamberson and Leonard and John Fite.

Unfortunately the matter of who Peter Vanatta's parents were is one of those genealogical questions that has yet to be answered definitively, so noone seems to know who his parents were (at least not that I'm aware of). That might help explain the apparent connection between these families.

Please let me know if you find anything else which connects my Peter Vanatta to your Fite or Lamberson family. Thank you. I'll look forward to hearing back from you, and very interested to know what you might be able to turn up on this apparent connection.
