My only interest is that of any good genealogist, to truthfully and accurately track the lives which descend to mine and my children. IF the information you alluded to last is the abomination which our mutual relation gave to my daughter years ago, forget it! There were so many errors all over that thing that it qualifies for swiss cheese. He didn't even get right what living people told him! I know because before working on any section of the various lines in either side of the family, I have gone to living sources where I could. Of course I have not gone to SC because I don't need him hanging on my doorstep as he has been known to do with my daughter & her family. And poking is hardly the word. It would have been nice if I could have relied on what had been done before, but there is virtually no surname in the line that is intact. One can't just suppose that this or that relative is the correct ancestor because so n so said so! And don't give me societial affiliations either, because almost every pioneer organization is now asking that lines be redrawn due to earlier errors! Yours included! When you have worked with major authors in the field and acknowledged family historians of your primary lines, then come back and tell me I'm poking around!BYW- sticking only to your direct line is a great way to get tunnel vision and miss both the best clues and the most interesting characters!
