Sorry folks - I misread the old writing.
Diary inscription reads "Mama's father's name was GEORGE LAMBERTON, his mother's name was MONTGOMERY, she was cousin to the Earl of Eglington".
Another listing further on in the diary lists my gg-grandmother as attending "the last of the old tournaments, which was held on the estate of the Earl of Eglington. It was the last tournament to be held in Scotland. It poured with rain and all the fine ladies etc. got soaked". GG-grandmother is given as attending the event as a girl of about 13.
