Actually...I meant that to read that maybe Abigail was the daughter of Hope Lamberton & unknown Herbert, was
adopted by Hope's 2nd husband Samuel Ambrose whom Hope later divorced. William Cheney was supposedly Hope's 3rd husband. That would explain why Abigail and John Clark named their 1st son Ambrose and their 2nd son Cheney. Abigail recognized Samuel Ambrose AND William Cheney as her adopted fathers. Good grief...does this make sense to anyone else? Leslie
