Lamble Family South Africa
My great-grandfather, James Lamble, a printer, married Annie Elizabeth Warren in Southampton, Hampshire, England, mid-late 1880. They lived at 19 Nicolls Road, Southampton where they had 7 children.
It appears that James left the family around pre-1900, and moved to Lyndhurst, in the New Forest. He and Annie subsequently divorced. She re-married a Mr. Williams.
James and Annie's divorce appears to have prompted a move by their children to South Africa circa 1900, where they settled in Pietermaritzburg, Natal. All remained in South Africa until their deaths. Only the eldest son Charles remained in England where he died young at sea shortly after his father's departure.
The South African Lamble family are
1. Fred Lamble (my grandfather) who according to his birth certificate was born on 13 April 1879 in Southampton at 10 Nicolls Road Southampton Hampshire.
2. Nellie Ada, Fred’s twin
3. Julia Annie
4. Rose
5. Mary
6. Minnie
The existing South African Lamble family are all descended from James and Annie Lamble's union.
I would be interested to know, if James did remarry after he and Annie divorced, whether he started another family. If so, should there be any of his decendents still living, be they in Hampshire or elsewhere, I would be glad to hear from them in order to learn more about James, as well as to share my information about the South African Lamble family.
Best regards
Cheryl Johnson-Lamble
