Researcher: Pences (see above)
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:a15750&id=I125
ID: I125
Name: Jacob LAMER
Given Name: Jacob
Surname: Lamer
Sex: M
Note: In checking the 1925 Iowa State Census I have found both Mary Lamer Walton and Biddie Lamer Lane. These women give their mother's maiden names as Ritz. It is my suspicion that Jacob Lamer married Barbara Ritz, mother of Levi and Biddie (and how many more?) and she died, leaving him with the children to care for. I believe that Mary E.Lamer is the younger sister of Barbara but have no proof. It is something I am still checking on at this point.
Birth: BET 1783 AND 1815 in Pennsylvania
Note: Jacob Lamer has been a very difficult person to determine the age on and continues to be such. So far I have only been able to take a stab on his birth and I doubt that I will ever be able to do more than that. I have found him listed in the 1850 Delaware County, Iowa census with his second wife, Mary and his children, Levi and Biddy. His age is given as 65 which would make his birth year about 1785. I found his again in 1856 in Hardin County, Iowa. If his age in 1850 was correct (or close) he should have been 71 but he is listed as being 62 which would make his birth year 1794. In 1860 he should be 81 according to the first census found but I find his age as being 45 which makes his birth year 1815. In 1870 he should be 91 according to the 1850 census but he is listed as being 80 making his birth year 1790 (at least this puts him back closer to his "original" age) and then, according to his tomb stone which says, "Jacob, husband of Mary Lamer, age 90 years" he dies in 1873. According to his tomb stone he would have been born in 1783. So his birth years are as follows:1785, 1794, 1815, 1790, and 1783. I am assuming that since I have two years close together (1783 and 1785) that he must have been born sometime in the 1780's. I have found no newspapers from the area for the time around when he died to give me any indication of when or where he was born. All I know of his birth is that he was born in Pennsylvania. The Iowa State Historical Building houses numerous rolls of microfilmed newspapers and none of them from the Eldora area begin that early. I checked the library in Eldora, Iowa and they didn'thave any from that time either. I haven't checked to see when that particular newspaper started publishing. That is a possibility. 1
Death: 18 SEP 1873 in Iowa
Note: The only record I have of Jacob's death is that he is buried in the Xenia Cemetery (aka: Secor) in Eldora Twp., Hardin County, Iowa. I believe this must be correct because he is there with his family in 1870 and then in 1880 the family (Jacob, Mary and children left at home) are gone. Other children who have married are still in thearea. Either the tombstone is lying or he died around 1873. 2

Page: All records give the age of Franklin M. Lamer (oldest child of Jacoband Mary Lamer) so his birth year would have been 1854. Approximate year of his parents' marriage is based on the idea that they would have been married prior to his birth. The place is given by their daughter, Mary Elizabeth in the 1925 Iowa state census. She is listed twice, once in Hardin County with her daughter, Esther Saint and again in Grundy County where she is listed with her son, Adra.
