L'amie
my uncle has traced the name extensively.it originated in france but my lamie ancestors fled during the persecution of the hugenoes i think around the 15th century to ireland, dublin and county clair from memory.from here the family branched out to england as well.during or around the potato famine period the lamies migrated to canada, usa, australia and new zealand.it is highly likely the name spelling changes evolved during this period, however my relatives have been traced to canada ireland and england.if any one wants more info contact me on [email protected] memory there have been some famous and infamous lamies in history.
we have a lot of info dating back a long time,my uncle spent a lot of time and effortcompiling it.
regards steve
