Dear Dick,
My name is Ger Lamme.
I can confirm that my ancestors with the family name LAMME originate from the province of South Holland in The Netherlands. I was able to trace back the name Lamme in genealogical registers to about 1555. The oldest ancestor was a man called Jan Lamme. He most probably was born before 1555. He was a skipper an/or boatbilder/carpenter.
The family Lamme (my branche) originates from the south-western part of The Netherlands called " De Hoekse Waard". This is a delta area and since long mainly an agricultural area. The people lived in very small communities/villages with names like; Heerjansdam, Maasdam, Strijen.
My ancestors mainly were simple people that up to the late 1800's lived in farms and occupied themselves with agricultural labour and "watermanagement" labourwork in the polderland of this delta. I found a lot of details about this branch of the family LAMME; how they lived and
worked and all kinds of family details.
If you are interested to learn more and/or exchange information feel free to mail me back.
Greetings
Ger Lamme
