Sorry that no one answered your query earlier. Marcot is a spelling used by a couple of early Canadian Marcotte pioneers, and we sometimes forget to check for questions related to that spelling.
I can't answer any questions about Jean-Jacques Lamothe other than he married Marguerite Marcot (Marcotte) on 1 Feb, 1790 in Cap Sante. Marguerite, however, was the daughter of Joseph-Marie Marcotte and Madeleine Matte. Joseph-Marie Marcotte was the son of Jean-Francois "Jannot" Marcotte and Marie-Genevieve Morisset. You can find much, much more on their ancestors at my website. In your case, start at:http://faculty-staff.ou.edu/M/Michael.L.Marcotte-1/jannot.htm
I don't yet have any of Joseph-Marie's children listed, but in addition to Marguerite, they were: Josette, Madeleine and Therese.
