John Baptist LaMothe was born August 27, 1880 to Edward and Mary (Bellant) of Cheboygan, MI. He married Helena Eberhardt (parents of Charles and Martha (Carlson) of Cheboygan, MI) on November 21, 1903. After Edward's death in 1909, Mary returned to Three Rivers and joined a convent and John and Lena stayed at the family farm until the 1920's when they moved to Detroit, MI. John and Lena had 13 children, Pauline Edwidge LaMothe was my grandmother. They left the farm to find work in Detroit. John drove a team of horses for a construction company that dug basements for the houses that were being built. John LaMothe died in 1954 in Detroit. His last surviving daughter, Arlene, resides in Florida.
