My ancestor is said to come from Bordeaux but I haven't had the chance to investigate locally. Imagine being in France two years and not having the time to get into the local archives !

More than half the phone book entries of Lamothe-Montravel are ... Lamothe.

What branch of Lamothe are you investigating ? I am researching Mathieu de La Mothe and his wife Jeanne Roselle.
