Sorry I'm so late in joining the forum and perhaps giving you some information about the family in Louisana. From my limited research, it seems there was a governor of the state of Louisana in the early 1700's. I beleive he was appointed governor by King Louis XIV, his close friend.
Perhaps your friend is descended from him. You can search the Louisana State archives for more information.
