Hi Taylor my wifes family has a Cecil Lamothe married to a Beverly Hamilton ,son of Richard Lamothe married to Helen Morrison, son of Joseph Lamothe and Susan Cunningham, son of Joachim Lamothe and Mary Dougherty. Joachim arrived from Ireland in the late 1860's (we think), with his wife Mary Dougherty and son Francis, who was 10. Also with them was Joachim's brother Joshua. They were originally from France, but went to Ireland to fight in the civil war between Ireland and Britian. According to our records, Francis married Mary Ellen Cunningham lived on Calumet Island Pontiac county Quebec. near Bristol and Campbells Bay north of Ottawa. Joachim was living with Francis and his family during the time of the 1901 Census. This could be the confusion about being irish and being adopted by a french Lamothe. If this all sounds familer let me know and I'll send you the tree info as I have it. My list only shows Cecil as having one son named Greg. Best of luck in your quest Ron ... ve3lvv@sympatico.ca Notify Administrator about this message?
