I too would be interested in any info on the couple, (Francois De LaMotte and Jeanne Foissard from Dax, Landes, France), you are researching. That is as far back as I could get and I don't think I will ever get to France to research it further.
In the research I did in the early 80's I found in the church records in Canada that Francois Louis De LaMotte used "Motte" and it wasn't untill one generation later that De La LaMothe appears and then to LaMothe. Some lines continued with the LaMotte and some with LaMothe. My research in Canada is limited now because all my relatives that were helping me are now dead and I don't speak French.
