Have you ever attempted to get the death certificate for Hormidas? It should indicate who his parents were and where he was born.
I have, in my large Lamothe data-base, an Hormidas Lamothe born 10 years later, but suspect that your Hormidas and mine are probably cousins. It is definitely a "family" name which was handed down over and over again.
I also have an Olivier Lamothe married to an Émélie PARENTEAU in 1844 at St-Aimé, Richelieu, P.Q., Canada, and a François Lamothe m. Marie PARENTEAU in 1817 at St-Michel, Yamachiche, P.Q., Canada.
Hopefully we can find your Hormidas, but those are some of the places where the family was located, as well as several of my Lamothe people in Drummonville, and Bagot counties (comtés) of Québec Province.
Please contact me if you think some of those names could help you.
