I am interested in a Julia A. Lamphear who lived in West Van Buren Township, La Grange County, Indiana in 1850. She is the closest individual I could find on the internet with the same last name as Abel Lamphear from the neighboring county of Elkhart. It is with Abel I have family ties.

It is interesting to me that Julia Alida Lamphier family is said to be New Yorkers. If Julia can also be mistaken for "Lamphear," as so often happens, then, as her uncle Abel Lamphear, from Elkhart is from New York, so was she. Whose the last names are is anybodies guess. (I often wonder about my own last name, who changed it and where!?!)

I've been really stuck on locating my gggrandfather, Jonas Beers. His father-in-law was Abel Lamphear. The Beers' are from New York too! My guess is that Silas Beers' son John moved to Pennsylvania, and his son Jonas moved to Elkhart Indiana. It is only a theroy, but it is what dreams are made of, right!?!?! Well, I'll leave you my email, and good-luck.
