I am choosing to respond here because I prefer this forum to ancestry.com.
I can't provide any information that would show a connection between Loyd Lamphier (often Lampher in census) and your David Lanfear. I think Loyd is a son of Ebenezer Lamphier and Hannah Caswell but have no proof except locaility and the fact he had a son b. at the time Loyd was. Ebenezer was in Hartland, Vt in 1804 when he married and in 1810 census. He was in Middlebury, Addison county, VT in 1820, 1830, 1840. He had 6-7 sons; 2-3 daughers. I can't identify any of Ebenezer's children with certainty.
Yes, Loyd (b. 1809, VT) moved from Ripton, Vt to Crown Point area, NY by about 1835/36. My ancestor sometimes claimed Vt and sometimes NY as place of birth. Her 3 older brothers almost always claim VT as place of birth on records. Siblings after my ancestor, Cornelia Lamphier, b. in Jan. 1836, claim NY except for child #8 and child #9 which claim Ohio. Loyd is in Essex co., NY in 1840 and in Lake Co, IN census for 1850 with a son b. ca 1846 claiming OH as place of birth.
I have some information that basically matches yours on the Asa Lamphere and John Lampheres that you listed. I just haven't ever put them together in a descedency like you have.
There is another Lanfear person in Essex county, NY. A Solomon Lanfear was in Minerva in 1810 census of the community. He was known for his looms. I found mention of him in a book: MINERVA: A HISTORY OF A TOWN IN ESSEX COUNTY, NEW YORK.(P.23) He might be the same man as the Solomon of 138 Regiment( Nellis'), NY for War of 1812. I have other Solomon Lanphears in my notes but can not tell if they are different men or not.
