Julia Alida Lamphier/Edward William Morton

I am seeking information on my great-grandparents and their ancestry, namely Edward William Morton, who was born "somewhere" in Ohio, 24 December 1852 and Julia Alida Lamphier, who was born 24 May 1858, "somewhere" in Illinois. They were married about 1879. Edward's father was born in Massachusetts; his mother in New York. Family tradition is that Edward ran away from home at age 14 and never spoke of his family again. Julia was a daughter of Alfred Lamphier [d. abt. 1864]and Jane Willard [d. 1860], and granddaughter of Jesse Lamphier [d. abt. 1864] ~ all said to be New Yorkers.

Edward entered a homestead in 1895 west of The Dalles in Wasco Co., Oregon. He died there, 4 April 1909. Julia later moved to Portland, Oregon, where she died, 21 July 1926.

Edward and Julia had the following children:

Jane Lamphier Morton, 1880-1881
Ralph Cecil Morton, 1882-1885
Edward William Morton, 1884-1922, b. Portland, OR
Julia Alida Morton, 1885-1888
Nathaniel Richard Morton, 1887-1909, b. Madelaine Plains, CA
Etta Morton, 1892-1913, b. Reno, NV
Nellie Morton, 1895-1895
Nora Victoria Morton, 1897-1955, b. The Dalles, OR

Nora, the youngest child, and Frederick Dennis Paul [1883-1953] are my grandparents.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I may be emailed directly at vern@vernpaul.com and/or vernpaul@earthlink.net
