This from a book on Michael Woods and Mary Campbell line by Patsy Woods Young and Melba Woods Rugg.William Woods went to live with his sister,Roaannah Lampkin in Alabama 1 Feb.1804,then returned to Tennessee prior to going to Missouri in 1806 with one slave(My man Anderson)He purchased part of the Miles Goforth grant in 1808 lying Southwest of Caldedonia, washington Co.and this land belonged to members of his family until 1954.The house he built there is still being lived in today and has been visited by many of his descendants down thru the years.
Shortly after William's arrival in Missouri he received the following letter from his father Michael Woods in Tennessee dated 15 Oct.`1807 and it reads:
Tennessee State, Washington County ,Nolachucky River
