Hi, I'm Becky, Janet Davis' sister and fellow relative-hunter. I'm so excited to see your post! Janet called me and told me about it. We thought that we would never find anybody related to the Paynes. My grandmother became estranged from her family as a young teenager after her father died and her mother remarried. She eloped and married my grandfather. Her mother died shortly thereafter, after childbirth. My grandmother had two half-sisters, one of whom died young, and we heard that the father, a Mr. Tinsley, moved to Texas with his other daughter. In her later years, she regretted losing touch with her family and my father wanted me to try to find the Tinsleys in Texas, but I wasn't able to. I live In Athens now, close to Atlanta, and will be able to go to Atlanta now and look for the family graves, thanks to you. I would love to get a copy of the photo, if possible, and would gladly pay for a copy. I'd also like to know more about the family....how many children there were, where they lived, etc. My grandmother did get into genealogy and the Paynes go way back, to the Wyatt family in England. (Sir Thomas Wyatt in Maidstone. he was a poet and lived at Allington castle---pronounced Arlington). At one point in time the family was offerd the castle, but refused it. (have you heard that story?) I saw it back in the late '90s when I went to England. I've got a photo of it, and the lineage down to the Paynes, if you're interested.
