Thanks for responding. The Lampkins I am looking for were African-American ... I believe they were slaves and it is likely that they took their surname from the family they were with. Did your Louisiana family have a plantation where slave labor was used? Or ...? Do you know where in Louisiana they lived - this Lampkin family probably lived near Shreveport or Oscalousa. Good luck in your research! It is very difficult to find information, believe me. If there is any possiblity of a relationship of any kind and you would be interested in what names I do have, please write again. It's not much, I'm afraid.
