Julie,
The wonderful thing about geneology is records.
This is from the Orange County, Virginia Marriage Records (1851-1867) by Fisher.
Sarah F. Lancaster, daughter of Sarah Lancaster married William M. Tinder, aka Waller M. Tinder on February 21, 1852 Orange Co., VA.
Her father Jonathon Lancaster Sr. was deceased before this marriage, and her mother Sarah signed for her to marry being age 16 years of age.I really think the aka: defines who this individual is.
Culpeper Co., VA was formed in 1747 from Orange Co., VA.William Waller Mason Tinder from Orange Co., VA, living in 1850 Culpeper Co., VA age 23 years. Most early marriages occured in the county of the brides family not to mention he himself was from Orange Co., VA.He would of been age 25 yrs at the time of his first marriage and age 28 yrs at the time of second marriage.
The 2nd marriage of William Waller Mason Tinder occcured November 11th 1855 VA to Sarah Ann Latshaw three years after the marriage to Sarah F. Lancaster.
Whether Waller and his 1st wife had children remains to be determined from the latter census records. She could of died in child bearing or died with the child. This is only determined if the census records reveal childrens age's between December 1852 and November 1855.Perhaps she died of natural cause.
How many children listed in the 1870 census born between 1852-1855.Since the marriage of Waller and Sarah (Latshaw) occurred so late in the year (November 1855) I would guess her first child would of been born as early as August 1856.
It wasn't uncommon for a widow father to marry quickly after the death of his wife to care for small children or infants if any were in the household.
Would you share with us the 1870 census reading and of course the Lancaster/Tinder information on some of these people.
Thanks again, Nancy
