Any information concerning this couple would be very welcome. John was a stonemason/bricklayer (and later a Mill worker) He was born a British subject in the USA - in Providence, Rhode Island abt. 1844, but returned to the UK, and in January 1882. He then married a seaman's widow - Ann LAMBERT (nee REYNOLDS) - who was born in South Shields, and who was crippled. Neither had any children and latterly, they lived in Fernbank, and Keighley, in Bingley, West Yorks.
John died aged 70 in 1915. Ann died at 21 Crescent Place, Bingley aged 72 in 1917. They helped to raise two children - firstly Thomas Reynolds SMITH (a.k.a Tommy Redman)from the North East, and latterly they adopted Ethel WOOD, who was shown on the 1891 census, aged 5, but who unfortunately died aged 14 in 1900.
