According to a press release from Ancestry.com on May 3, interest in DNA testing has risen significantly in the past year. Ancestry based its statement on a recent survey by Harris Interactive, which showed interest in taking a test increasing from 42 percent to 56 percent of the American population in less than a year. Almost two-thirds of respondents also said they were interested in finding out about their families prior to their arrival in the US.
This comment came in a statement announcing Ancestry's new autosomal DNA test, which is available initially only to Ancestry subscribers by invitation. Ancestry is the most recent lab to offer antosomal DNA tests, which can be taken by males or females to estimate degrees of relationship between two participants.
