Elizabeth--
It's been a while since you posted your query, so I need to ask:Have you found anything as of yet?
My mother's family is the LANDGRAF's from the St. Louis area and, as far as I know, are NOT related to the Landgraf's from Cape Girardeau.
However, I do have some information on your family because I gathered research on all the Landgraf's in Missouri while trying to sort them out. ;) [It was tough sometimes.]
So here's what I have on Lebrecht Heinrich Landgraf:
Lebrecht Heinrich Landgraf was the 6th child of HERMANN FRIEDRICH LANDGRAF and his wife, MATILDA NOESSER.Matilda had been married before, so Noesser is NOT her maiden name.They were married 15 June 1856 in Perry Co., MO.{There was a large settlement of German immigrants at the time living in Perry County.}
Hermann was born 12 Oct. 1833 in Wildenfels bei Zwickau, Saxony, in what would become a united Germany. {Before unification, Germany was made up of smaller kingdoms: Bayern/Bavaria, Saxony, Hesse-Darmstadt, etc.}Herman died on 8 Dec. 1907 in Cape Girardeau.
Matilda was born 29 Oct. 1839 in Preussen [Prussia].She died in Cape Girardeau, on 29 Jan. 1929.
Lebrecht Heinrich Landgraf was born on 28 Sept. 1870 in New Wells, Cape Girardeau Co., MO.According to the information I found, Lebrecht was married 3 times: first wife: Anna M. Schaumloeffel; second wife, Hilda Elinor Gerler; and third wife, Alvina "Lina" C. Wachter.He died on 25 Dec. 1953, not too long after he had married his last wife at the age of 83, in Cape Girardeau.
If this IS your family, please let me know.I have more information.
