Ruth Landrum m. Nicholas Copeland-Spotsylvania, VA
Does anyone know the ancestry/parents of the Ruth Landrum who married Nicholas Copeland "IV" (the fourth man "in a row" in that Copeland family who was named Nicholas Copeland, per what I see on the internet)?I know that there was a James Landrum in Essex Co., VA who married a Mary Brown there, and that Mary Brown was a daughter of a William Brown who married (as one of his three apparent wives) an Elizabeth Allen (a daughter of VALENTINE Allen and Mary Page....and Mary Page's father was named THOMAS Page).I note that Nicholas Copeland "IV" and Ruth Landrum had sons that included a VALENTINE Copeland and a THOMAS Copeland, but the use of those two "familiar" given names MIGHT have been just a coincidence.
There was also, however, a John Landrum who was over in Spotsylvania Co., VA in the 1720s, and he was closely associated with a later/younger William Brown there (a William Brown who I SUSPECT was a grandson of the above "first" William Brown who had married Elizabeth Allen as one of his three apparent wives....albeit no "concrete proof").Was Ruth Landrum perhaps instead a daughter (or sister) of that John Landrum in Spotsylvania Co., VA?Does anyone know the EXACT relationship between the referenced John Landrum and the above James Landrum who married Mary Brown (I have been told by other researchers that they were related in SOME way)?Who did that John Landrum in Spotsylvania Co., VA marry (I may very well have already seen the name of his wife, but I just don't recall right now)?
By the way, Nicholas Copeland "III" had a sister who was named Jane Copeland, and Jane married Daniel Brown "I" of Essex Co., VA.Daniel Brown "I" was a son of Francis Brown "I" (who apparently married an Elizabeth Cole), and Francis Brown "I" died in Essex Co., VA in 1691/1692.Per my research, it does not appear that the family of Francis Brown "I" (of DNA "Group 10" at the Brown Genealogy Society DNA testing website) was related to the family of the William Brown who married Elizabeth Allen....though it is clear that those two Brown families were well acquainted with one another.I wish that a living male Brown from the family of that William Brown would take the DNA test.It appears that his son (via one of his three apparent wives) named William Brown "II" married a Margaret Cloutson, and they were PROBABLY the parents of the "next" William Brown ("III") who was over in Spotsylvania Co., VA with John Landrum in the 1720s (but again, no "concrete proof").The William Brown in Spotsylvania Co., VA sued John Landrum for his "freedom dues" in the 1720s....so that William Brown was probably an "indentured servant" (perhaps a skilled craftsman of some type) for John Landrum.
Also, the above Francis Brown "I" had another son who we call Francis Brown "II" (died about 1708/1709 in Essex Co., VA).Francis Brown "II" is said to have married a woman who was also named Elizabeth Allen. If anyone knows exactly how/if that Elizabeth Allen was related to the other Elizabeth Allen (a daughter of Valentine Allen and Mary Page) who married the above "first" William Brown, please let me know. Thanks!
