The Lanigans of Clonmell Co Tipperary

You may all like to know that the Lanigans originated in the Welsh/English Village of Llanigon or Lanigan as both spellings are used within the village, it lay on the Welsh English border near Haye on Wye, our family name is on the bottom left hand side of the main stained glass window Spelt Lanigan, we moved to Irland at the time of St Patrick. one of our decendants woo'd the widow of the owner of castle foggerty, married her then removed her! yes we Lanigans are rogues. one famous lanigan became a senior clergy at the Vatican, another became the Bishop of Irland and is buried in Armagh Cathederal.
My grandfather Edward Lanigan came to England after serving in the British army before and during the first world war. Castle Foggerty was not destroyed by the English it was destroyed in a fire in the 1950's. According to my father george Stavros Lanigan the Lanigans went to irland and settled in the area of Clonmell and that the family split into two factions, this has been proven by the decendants of the other faction moving to Coventry where my Grandfather settled they too have followed the family history. it is a fact that if your name is Lanigan with one N then chances are we are infact related. I would love for us all to send a DNA sample to actually see and prove this. my email is nigel.lanigan@sky.com please please get in touch.
Regards
Nigel Lanigan.
